Darrow family personal and business papers, 1790-1898.

Legal documents, court records, financial records and correspondence of several generations of a Waterford, Connecticut family, namely Zadock, Lemuel, Jason, Edwin, Lyman and Alfred L. Darrow. Lyman died in Georgia. His brother Edwin sought his fortune first in Cincinnati, Ohio and later in New York City. Includes one folder of financial records related to Daniel H. Caulkins who was keeper of the lighthouse at Sands Point and Execution Rock in Old Saybrook, Conn. Caulkins' stepson Edwin Darrow was paid by the United States government for carting coal, providing globular tubes, and for labor at the lighthouse, among other items and services.
